Victorian teenage hoons lose wheels
AAP - Two Victorian teenagers have had their cars impounded in separate incidents just hours apart.
A 19-year-old lost his wheels after he was allegedly caught drag racing in Melbourne's Lygon Street, Carlton North, just after midnight on Saturday.
The teenager was nabbed by police - who were in the area targeting motorcyclists - after clocking him racing another car at 127km/h in a 60km/h zone.
Police are still hunting for the other vehicle.
The teenager, from Point Cook in the city's west, lost his car for 48 hours and will be charged on summons.
About two hours later, an allegedly drunk P-plater had his driver's licence suspended just six weeks after obtaining his probationary permit.
The 18-year-old was speeding and driving on the wrong side of the road in Colac, in Victoria's north, about 2.15am (AEDT).
There were three other teenagers in the car at the time, police said.
Police in an unmarked car spotted the teenager's erratic driving and intercepted him a short time later in a residential driveway.
He recorded a blood-alcohol concentration of .092 in a preliminary breath test.
He was taken to Colac police station where his licence was suspended and the car impounded.
The teenager is expected to be charged on summons at a later date for traffic-related offences, including conduct endangering life, driving in a manner dangerous and exceeding the prescribed concentration of alcohol.
Elsewhere, a 26-year-old Frankston learner motorcyclist had his Suzuki impounded after police clocked him speeding at almost 180km/h in an 80km/h zone on the Monash Freeway at Mount Waverley.
And a man was nabbed steering his car with his knees, while he ate food from a bowl wedged between his legs, on the Mornington Peninsula.
On the other side of the city, police targeting motorcyclists as part of Operation Traction in Lygon Street, issued 44 infringement notices to motorists and eight to motorcyclists.
