PACE chairman's visit major event in Tatarstan's life - Minnikhanov

KAZAN, February 12 (Itar-Tass) -- The Republic of Tatarstan is a
unique model of peaceful coexistence of different faiths and
nationalities, its head Rustam Minnikhanov said at a meeting with the
chairman of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE)
Mevlut Cavusoglu, which took place in Kazan's Kremlin on Friday.
"Many times we have played host to your visiting colleagues, who
invariably mentioned this. Representatives from different countries are amazed by the environment that exists in our republic. We highly
appreciate it," said the head of Tatarstan. He explained that the
authorities should respect the religious choices of their citizens. In
such matters one should be cautious and careful, but at the same time "it is necessary to give a firm rebuff to every terrorist and extremist religious group."
"The PACE chairman's visit is a very important event in the social
life of our republic," said the head of Tatarstan. He stressed the good relationship between that organization and the Republic of Tatarstan.
Minnikhanov recalled that PACE delegates had visited the republic on many occasions in the past.
