Presidential Administration: Main goal of combating corruption in Azerbaijan is to eliminate negative incidents preventing development

Azerbaijan, Baku, Feb.11 / Trend M. Aliyev /
The main goal of combating corruption in Azerbaijan is to eliminate negative incidents preventing the country's development, Azerbaijani Presidential Administration Social and Political Department head Ali Hasanov told Trend today.
"One of the main goals of the fight against corruption in Azerbaijan is to eliminate once and for all the problems that damage the internal and external image of the country, and the factors that cause the population's dissatisfaction and impede entrepreneurs' activity," Hasanov said.
According to him, combating corruption is not a campaign.
"President Ilham Aliyev raised this issue on Jan. 14 at the enlarged meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers on the results of 2010. It was noted that Azerbaijan in 2010, and in general over the period of independence, achieved significant successes, rapid development, and significant progress in foreign policy. However, a number of problems still remain unsolved. The president noted the unresolved Nagorno-Karabakh conflict among these problems in foreign policy. He mentioned some cases in the domestic policy that prevent the development of entrepreneurship - illegal inspections of objects of entrepreneurship, and corruption and bribery negatively affecting the country's business image," Hasanov said.
Hasanov said that the head of state urged to conduct a serious struggle with similar cases. "After this meeting, in accordance with the president's instructions, a number of measures were taken, including meetings held in the Commission Against Corruption, colleges of ministries, committees, and other bodies, as well as the Cabinet of Ministers and the appropriate structures to improve the activity of organizations carrying out inspections in this sphere. Holding such meetings will further continue," Hasanov said.
