Project Finance magazine awards Turkish banks
ISTANBUL (A.A) Feb 11 - An international magazine granted awards to Turkish banks for their two project finance transactions in 2010.
Project Finance, the leading magazine of Euromoney Publications, named "Uludag and Camlibel electricity distribution privatization project" developed by Turkey's Garanti Bankasi, Halk Bankasi, Is Bankasi, Turkish Industrial Development Bank (TSKB) and Vakiflar Bankasi, as "the best energy infrastructure project of Europe."
Also, the magazine granted the "best hydroelectrical project of Europe award" to "Boyabat dam and hydroelectrical power plant project", developed by Garanti Bankasi, Is Bankasi, Yapi Kredi Bankasi and TSKB.
Garanti Bankasi, Halk Bankasi, Is Bankasi, TSKB and Vakiflar Bankasi provided 1.2 billion USD of long-term loan to the "Uludag and Camlibel electricity distribution project" in August 2010.
Moreover, Garanti Bankasi, Is Bankasi, Yapi Kredi Bankasi and TSKB granted 750 million USD of loan for the Boyabat dam and hydroelectrical power plant project.
The Boyabat dam and hydroelectrical power plant will be constructed on the River Kizilirmak in the northern province of Sinop, and will generate 1.5 billion kwh electricity p.a.
It will meet electricity need of 600,000 people, and can generate electricity from domestic and clean resources instead of imported fossil fuel.
