Moscow government to sell Vnukovo airport stake
MOSCOW (Itar-Tass) - The government of Moscow plans to
sell its stake in Vnukovo airport, however no final decision has been made yet, according to city mayor.
"Vnukovo has been included into the privatization plan. So far no
decision has been made on the price and sales method. We are assessing the
situation," Mayor Sergei Sobyanin told reporters on Thursday.
The Moscow government holds a 60-percent stake in Vnukovo domestic
flight terminal and 25% in the international flight terminal.
As for traffic jams in the city, Sobyanin said his government has
drafted a transportation hub plan with the surrounding region. The aim is
to ease transit cargo road and rail flows through the Russian capital.
"The flows are immense and so far we do not understand the logistics of
the flows, why they come to Moscow and where they go," Sobyanin said.
The government did not abandon the idea of banning daytime entry to
the city to long trucks which critics said would hike prices.
However Sobyanin said "the problem cannot be resolved through a simple
ban."
"It is important to estimate the whole cargo logistics and only after
that we shall make the final decision on how to regulate transportation in
the Moscow hub. That will take time," the mayor said.
