Russian envoy delivers Medvedev's message to al-Asad.

MOSCOW (Itar-Tass) - Russian presidential envoy for the
Middle East and Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Saltanov delivered an oral message of President Dmitry Medvedev to Syrian leader Bashar al-Asad, the Russian foreign ministry said late on Thursday.
"On February 10 special representative of the Russian president for
the Middle East Alexander Saltanov who is touring the region upon an
instruction of Dmitry Medvedev visited Syria. In Damascus he was received
by President Bashar al-Asad to whom he delivered an oral message from the
Russian president," the ministry said, but did not elaborate.
According to reports from Damascus, al-Asad noted the significance of
partnership and political coordination with Russia.
Saltanov arrived in Damascus from Cairo where he met President Hosni
Mubarak, Vice President Omar Suleiman, and Foreign Minister Ahmed Aboul
Gheit.
He told reporters in Cairo that "processes in Egypt shall develop
according to the will of the people without outside interference and
imposed recipes." Russia "is not going to interfere into the internal
affairs of Egypt and hopes the country will overcome the crisis by itself."
