MONGOLIAN CULTURAL DAYS RUN IN USA

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, /MONTSAME/ The Mongolian cultural and arts days ran February 2-6 in the Stanford University and the Barkley University in San Francisco, the USA, dedicated to the biggest anniversaries to be celebrated 2011 in Mongolia.
On the first day of the event, a scientific conference themed “Mongolian arts and religion” was held in the Barkley University. Some reports have been delivered by scholars and researchers from Mongolia and the USA. A Counselor of Mongolia's Embassy in the USA and head of the Consular section L.Battulga has delivered a report on a reform of the state policy of culture of Mongolia and urgent problems.
An evening of the Mongolian poetry and an exhibition of the Mongolian paintings have been organized in the Stanford University. It also hosted a lecture and performance of Mongolian khoomii (throat singing), and a scientific conference titled “Modern culture and arts of Mongolia” as well. These events have brought together B.Sharav, a composer and State Prize Holder; G.Mend-Ooyo, a poet and president of Mongolia's Academy of Culture and Poetry; Sergelen, director of the Academic Theatre of Opera and Ballet; N.Sengedorj, a khoomii singer; G.Urtnasan, a Morin Khuur player; and O.Enkhtaivan, a painter.
In addition, the “Concert for Morin Khuur” and the second suite of a ballet “Zuurdiin oron” composed by B.Sharav have been co-performed by Jindong Cai, a conductor of the Stanford Orchestra, and Julian Ma, the winner of the Stanford contest of piano together with a solo of Morin Khuur.
