Turkish labor minister meets New Zealander counterpart
WELLINGTON (A.A) Feb 10 - Turkey's labor and social security minister had talks with New Zealander ministers in Wellington on Thursday.
Omer Dincer is visiting this country to participate in Turkey-New Zealand Joint Economic Committee meeting.
Dincer first met Minister of Labor Kate Wilkinson, who said two countries had similar problems like economic stagnation and unemployment.
During the meeting, Dincer said unemployment continued to grow in Turkey despite the rise in employment.
Dincer said Turkey was encouraging employment of women, young people and the disabled, and Turkey provided 960,000 people with jobs in 2010.
However, employment was up 1.5 points and reached 12 percent, he also said. Dincer said Turkey allocated almost 500 million USD to vocational training every year.
The second New Zealand executive Omer Dincer met was Minister of Immigration Jonathan Coleman. Dincer said New Zealand's visa policy caused problems for people who wanted to visit this country.
Dincer said bilateral relations would improve if New Zealand facilitated visa procedures for diplomats, businessmen and students.
Coleman said New Zealand was willing to solve visa problems by eliminating deficiencies in the current system.
Turkey's Labor Minister Dincer also came together with New Zealand's Minister of Senior Citizens John Carter and discussed possible cooperation against earthquakes.
Dincer also said two countries could cooperate in preparing natural disaster and risk map, constructing quake-resistant buildings and sharing seismic data.
