Kamchatka Terr to gain possession of Fed-owned aviation enterprise.

PETROPAVLOVSK-KAMCHATSKY (Itar-Tass) - Rosaviatsiya
(Federal Air Transport Agency) has agreed to transfer the Federally-owned
Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky aviation enterprise to the possession of the
Kamchatka Territory (KT). A respective decision of the government of the
Russian Federation is being awaited, an official in the KT government told
Itar-Tass on Thursday.
Governor Alexei Kuzmitsky said, "The emergence of a Territorial
aviation enterprise will help optimize its expenses and lower tariffs on
the transportation of passengers along local flight routes. This will
apply to all residents of remote populated areas of the KT. The handover
of the aviation enterprise will also make it possible without much
procrastination to allocate resources from the regional budget to renew
the airliner fleet. Three new airliners L-410 were acquired recently and
the purchase of one or two helicopters on Territorial budget resources is
under examination."
"The change of owner will make it easier for the KT to settle matters
aimed at attracting investments, including those for a project to build a
new airport terminal in the town of Yelizovo," Kuzmitsky said. He promised
that there would be no dismissals at the aviation enterprise: "The
personnel will go on working. There is a great shortage of personnel in
the sector and all specialists are to retain their jobs".
The Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky aviation enterprise is the only one to
run flights on Kamchatka airlines since 2010 following the merger with the
Koryak aviation enterprise. Since 2010, all local airports -- with the
exception of the Yelizovo-based Petropavlosk-Kamchatsky one, which is the
main airport of the Peninsula -- were brought under the jurisdiction of
the Kamchatka Airports enterprise.
