Latvia, Lithuania presidents to discuss energy projects

RIGA (Itar-Tass) - Energy projects, particularly those
concerning nuclear power industry, will be the main subjects of discussion at the forthcoming talks between Lithuanian President Dalia Grybauskaite and her Latvian counterpart Valdis Zatlers, who together with his wife arrives in Vilnius for a State visit on Wednesday, an official in the Latvian presidential press service has told Itar-Tass.
The sides are to discuss matters concerning transport and cross-border
cooperation, as well as the strengthening of cultural and educational
contacts.
Zatlers will attend a Latvian-Lithuanian business forum.On February 11, on the concluding day of the visit, the Latvian Head of State will travel to the Lithuanian port of Klaipeda to meet with the
city mayor to discuss regional cooperation. While in Klaipeda, Zatlers is also to meet with members of the local Lettish community and visit Klaipeda University where he will be awarded the title of Doctor Honoris Causa.
The Latvian president will be accompanied during his visit to
Lithuania by Defence Minister Artis Pabriks, Economics Minister Artis
Kampars, Interior Minister Linda Murniece, and Raimonds Vejonis, Minister of the Environment and Regional Development.
The Latvian president's previous State visit to Lithuania was made in 2001. Zatlers travelled to Lithuania seven times for working visits during his presidency.
