Finland to develop coop'n in innovations.
NIZHNY NOVGOROD (Itar-Tass) - A delegation of the Nizhny Novgorod Region on Wednesday leaves for Finland for a working visit to
attend a regular session of the joint working group on trade-and-economic cooperation.
The delegation is to hold meetings in the Tampere Chamber of Commerce and Industry, where the innovations potential of the region will be presented and a seminar will be held to discuss the construction and development of urban infrastructure. When in Helsinki the delegation is to hold talks in the Central Chamber of Commerce on the development of co-production arrangements between the enterprises of the region and Finland.
Irina Negrebetskaya, director of the regional department for
international, foreign-economic, and interregional contacts, and
co-chairperson of the working group, has told journalists that the
traditional cooperation between the Nizhny Novgorod Region and Finland
develops in the fields of forest use and wood processing, the production
of building materials, urban construction, and wooden housebuilding.
"Several companies with the participation of Finnish capital operate in the region in this sphere among them a big investor the Stora Enso Company," she specified.
The concluding meeting of the joint working group is to be held in
Lahti where the sides are to fix basic orientations for further
cooperation and prepare a draft protocol on the implementation of accords
reached.
Finland is one of key trade and economic partners of the Nizhny
Novgorod Region. By the scope of foreign trade with the region, Finland ranks second among foreign countries. Trade turnover between the region and Finland within the first eleven months of 2010 amounted to $370.1 million while the export to Finland ran at $260.5 million and import from there amounted to $109.6 million.
