ICRC: Iraqi families visit their detained relatives in Kuwait
Baghdad (NINA) - International Committee of the Red Cross ICRC announced that Iraqi families finished today, Feb. 8, a visit to their relatives detained in the Central Kuwaiti Prison. The visit is part of the Families Visits Operation arranged by ICRC and supported by both countries' governments.
In a press statement, Chief of ICRC team in Kuwait said "ICRC arranges such visits out of humanitarian motives. The families' visits are essential for the detainees' safety and to remind them that they are not forgotten, in addition to helping them see their parents, wives, and children and bring them news from home."
He added that "these detainees were arrested and sentenced during the Gulf War 1990-1991 and they are still kept in Kuwait Central Prison."
