Sarajevo turns into health center of Balkans thanks to Turkey's support
SARAJEVO (A.A) - The Bosnian capital city of Sarajevo has turned into a major health center in the Balkans thanks to Turkey's support.
Sarajevo's "Zehra Muidovic Gynaecology Clinic", which was severely damaged during the war in Bosnia-Herzegovina in 1992, has been recently repaired and opened to patients thanks to Turkey's 4.5 million USD financial aid.
After such clinic, the orthopedics clinic of Bosnia's biggest hospital "Kosevo Hospital" received new equipment worth nearly 1 million EUR from the Union of Chambers & Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB).
Thanks to the union's support, the hospital has become the only health center in the Balkans that performs spine and backbone operations.
Speaking to AA, the head of Kosevo Hospital's Orthopedics Department Dr. Mirza Biscevic said his hospital currently had the best and most modern surgical equipment in the Balkans thanks to Turkey.
He said numerous patients from Belgrade, Zagreb and Montenegro now preferred his hospital to receive treatment.
Biscevic noted that especially young patients between the ages of 10-15 underwent spine and backbone operations at Kosevo Hospital.
The operation rooms equipped by the surgical tools and devices provided by TOBB would be officially inaugurated with a ceremony to be attended by Turkish State Minister Faruk Celik, TOBB chairman Rifat Hisarciklioglu and several other executives on February 18, officials said.
