Japan's FM seeks to boost relations with Russia.

TOKYO (Itar-Tass) - Japan's Foreign Minister Seiji Maehara
plans to strengthen bilateral relations with Russia during his official visit to Moscow on February 10.
"There is the groundwork for more active development of relations
between Russia and Japan that are of great importance," he told a news
conference on Tuesday. "Our relations will forge ahead, if the territorial issue is resolved and a peace treaty is signed."
Maehara noted he planned to use his visit to Moscow "to deepen
Russian-Japanese relations in different sectors, including economy."
He also confirmed Tokyo's adherence to the basic policy aimed at
returning the four islands and concluding a peace treaty between Japan and Russia.
During his stay in Moscow Maehara plans to hold talks with his Russian
counterpart Sergei Lavrov on February 11 and to take part in the meeting of the interstate commission on trade and economic cooperation. Maehara is the commission's co-chair.
