Uprising in Muslim world reflects Ummah aspirations: JI leader

Islamabad, Feb 8, IRNA – Central leader of Jamaat-e-Islami, Pakistan said Monday ‘uprising movements in Muslim world reflect spirit and aspirations of Ummah’.
Speaking to IRNA, Senator Profffesor Khurshid Ahmad said that these movements are miracles of history adding that Muslims have struggled hard for their rights. “Almighty Allah has showered his blessings on us, we should welcome movements against dictators”, he added.
Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei has said that the Iranian nation's voice has resonated throughout the Muslim countries, resulting in Tunisia revolution and the Egypt uprising.
“I totally agree with the Supreme Leader as Islamic Revolution has always been a source of inspiration for the oppressed Muslim nations”, said Profffesor Khurshid Ahmad.
The religious leader observed that the events in Tunisia, Egypt, Yemen and Jordan show that Muslims are very active and know to fight for their rights. “People of these countries want democracy and Islamic rule in their countries”, the Senator viewed.
The JI leader expressing his views warned that some Western elements are trying to hijack these movements. “We must remain vigilant against such conspiracies”, he suggested.
Khurshid Ahmad opined that ongoing injustice and misuse of resources are the reasons for the movements in Islamic world.
He went on to say that economic digression in Egypt forced the people to come out on streets.
The religious leader said that people of Egypt and Tunisia were tired of dictatorships. “They wanted freedom of expression and Islamic rule”, he added.
Ayatollah Khamenei in the Friday Prayers sermons said that after years of endeavor and hardship, the Iranian nation is today witnessing that their voice is heard strongly in other parts of the world of Islam.
“Today’s events in North of Africa, Egypt, Tunisia and certain other countries have another sense for the Iranian nation. They have special meaning (for the Iranian nation). This is the same as `Islamic awakening’, which is the result of the victory of the great revolution of the Iranian nation,” said the Supreme Leader.
Ayatollah Khamenei said that the US and Israel have become helpless in the face of freedom-seeking Egyptians and noted that defeat awaits them in Tunisia and Egypt.
Noting that the uprising movement started from mosques with such slogans as “Allah-o-Akbar” (God is the Greatest), Ayatollah Khamenei said the Egyptians will not let the Islamic movement be diverted by the Westerners.
