Titanium Valley in Urals to have telecommunications infrastructure

YEKATERINBURG, February 6 (Itar-Tass) -- Russia's regional and federal
communications operators are prepared for the implementation of the
project to organize a Special Economic Zone /SEZ/, called the Titanium
Valley, which will be located in the Verkhnyaya Salds city of the
Sverdlovsk Region. The regional governor's information department reports
that the project was discussed at a meeting of the local information
technologies ministry on February 3.
Representatives of communications services companies say their lines
have enough capacity to serve additional subscribers. The existing
networks may offer a wide range of services, including a wide-band access
to the Internet and modern services of mobile and ground communications.
In Verkhnyaya Salda there are base stations for cell communication of the
third generation, and the operators plan to construct fourth generation
networks.
"We may confirm that for the organisation of the Titanium Valley
special economic zone, for the effective work of its residents, the region
has now and develops further the modern telecommunications
infrastructures," a source in the department said.
The Titanium Valley SEZ comprises several groups of projects. Firstly,
a titanium production primary resource base will develop here on the basis
of the Kachkanar iron ore deposit.
However, the main point is that the SEZ will turn out high-added-value
products for chemical engineering, the atomic industry, aviation and
railway engineering, and non-ferrous metallurgy. The minimum amount of
investments for resident companies will be three million euros.
An Executive Order about the establishment of the Titanium Valley SEZ
was signed by Russia's Prime Minister Vladimir Putin on December 16, 2010.
