Turkish president to visit Iran soon: FM

Tehran, Feb 5, IRNA – Foreign Minister Ali-Akbar Salehi here on Saturday announced that Turkish President Abdullah Gul is to visit the Islamic Republic of Iran soon.
He added that President Gul's upcoming trip will be within the framework of regular visits of the two countries’ officials and is aimed at further expansion of all-out ties between the two neighboring states.

Salehi made the announcement while talking to reporters on the sidelines of the cabinet ministers’ visit to the mausoleum of the late Imam Khomeini this morning.

On the cancellation of his visit to Germany, he said the German foreign minister had invited him to attend the three-day Munich Security Conference which started on Friday but the trip was cancelled due to his busy agenda.

Salehi thanked his German counterpart for the invitation, adding, 'that does not mean that he was not attending their future meetings'.

On assignment of the new head of Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization, the Iranian foreign minister said President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad will introduce the body’s new chief in the coming days.
