.Lavrov proposes formula for settling crises in Egypt, other countries

MUNICH, February 5 (Itar-Tass) -- Russian Foreign Minister Sergei
Lavrov has suggested a formula for handling the crises in Egypt and other
countries in the region. It is focused on building socially-oriented
economies.
"The situation is alarming," the minister said. "But it is not
confined to Egypt or Tunisia. Demonstrations are taking place in Yemen,
Jordan, and there are plans for a demonstration in Syria."
"All situations are different, there is no single recipe," Lavrov
added. "But the overall principle is it is necessary to establish the
democratic process, to pay the closest attention to the economic needs, to
have, if you wish, a socially oriented economy."
Lavrov also said that he had briefed the German side on the telephone
conversation between Russian President Dmitry Medvedev and Egyptian
President Hosni Mubarak.
"In Egypt, everyone should obey the law and human rights and respect
the rights of civilians," said the Russian foreign minister. "The
Egyptians must find a peaceful political solution through a dialogue."
Germany's Minister for Foreign Affairs Guido Westerwelle, in turn,
stressed the idea that Berlin proceeded from the fact that "the right to
decide who will govern Egypt belongs exclusively to the people of Egypt."
He specifically pointed out that violence against journalists in Egypt
was unacceptable.
