Turkey offers one of world's most expensive Internet access, data shows
ANKARA (A.A)- Turkey is one of the countries in the world with the most expensive access to the Internet, data showed.
The survey by the Turkish Economic Policies Research Foundation (TEPAV) indicated that the country ranked higher on a list of OECD countries with highest Internet monthly access costs at $2.39 for the slowest and $76.11 for the fastest broadband connection mbps speeds, according to OECD Broadband Statistics.
The survey said Turks went online the most for e-mailing, using chat rooms and reading newspapers and magazines. The top three purposes of Internet use in European Union were e-mailing, accessing to information on goods and services, and accessing to health-related content.
The survey said despite high costs, household Internet access in Turkey increased by as high as 40 percent over the past three years as 53 percent of households had acquired access to the Internet.
