Fans, family welcome Bindra back home
Olympic gold medalist Abhinav Bindra arrived at the IndiraGandhi International airport here to a hero's welcome.
Bindra's father A. S. Bindra, mother Babli Bindra and his sister and brother-in-law were present at the airportWednesday night to receive the 25-year-old shooter.
"I am very happy. I feel honoured that I have won the first gold medal in the Olympics," Bindra said extending Independence Day greetings to all. (India got independence on August 15, 1947.) A huge crowd gathered to have a glimpse of the Indian marksman. Drummers, a contingent of mediapersons and securitypersonnel in large numbers were present.
Bindra won the the gold medal in the 10 metres air riflemen's event in Beijing Olympics.
