Proposals for N-S dialogue meet entire nation interests-KCNA.
PYONGYANG, February 3 (Itar-Tass) - Proposals that were made by the
Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) this past January one after
another for the start of a dialogue with South Korea "serve as an
expression of the patriotic attitude for the purpose of reunification of
the North and South and achievement of prosperity through the joint
efforts of the entire Korean nation", says a commentary circulated through
the channels of the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA).
Pyongyang, the authors of the commentary recall, suggested to Seoul
that talks be held without any preconditions between representatives of
authority of the North and South who have real power, that the dialogue be
resumed through the Red Cross Societies of the two sides, and that tourist
trips to the Kumgangsan health resort zone and the operation of a joint
industrial zone in the city of Kaesong (DPRK) be discussed.
KCNA believes that these proposals "accord with the interests of the
entire Korean nation".
On the other hand, the commentary points out, actions that are
conducive to growth of distrust and confrontation on the Korean Peninsula,
as well as to the deepening of dependence on the outside forces "must be
viewed as an act of treason and as betrayal of the national interests of
the Korean people".
