Next meeting of Russian, US senators due in second half of 2011

WASHINGTON, February 2 (Itar-Tass) - A next meeting of Russian and
American senators within the framework of the Russian Federation Council - U.S. Senate working group is due in the second half of the year, the chairman of the Federation Council's international affairs committee, Mikhail Margelov, told Tass here on Tuesday.
Margelov, Russian co-chairman of the working group, said that on
Wednesday he intends to discuss the future meeting with his American
counterpart, Senator Benjamin Nelson.
"Most likely, it will be held in the second half of the year," the
Russian senator said. He said he planned to discuss with Benjamin Nelson "such issues as reset in bilateral relations, the development of economic partnership and modernisation".
Besides, Margelov plans to meet with the chairmen of the Senate's
armed services and foreign relations committees, Carl Levin and John
Kerry, as well as with the senior director of Russian and Eurasian Affairs at the United States National Security Council, Michael McFaul.
"We intend to discuss a new positive agenda in bilateral relations,"
Margelov said. He stressed that reset is impossible only in the sphere of arms reduction, and that is why Russia and the USA must progress in the direction they have chosen.
