Ceasefire violations on LoC undermining peace process: Gilani

Thursday said Pakistan was making all-out efforts to resolve the Kashmir issue with India, but ceasefire violations alongthe Line of Control were undermining the peace process.

Gilani conveyed this message to his Indian counterpart Manmohan Singh when he met him in Colombo on the sidelines of the SAARC summit, he said, while addressing the nation on theoccasion of Pakistan's independence day.

Pakistan and India, he said, have decided to continue their dialogue process with a view to improving relations and resolving all outstanding issues. However, he had told Singh that violations of the ceasefire along the LoC were a matterof concern and undermining the peace process.

Gilani said Pakistan wanted a respectable solution to the core issue of Kashmir in accordance with the aspirations ofthe Kashmiri people.

He also termed his recent meetings with Indian and Afghanleaders in Colombo as "positive and constructive".

He said he had made it clear to President Hamid Karzai that a stable and peaceful Afghanistan is in the interest of Pakistan and as both nations are facing the threat of terrorism, they should make collective efforts to overcomethis menace.

On the war against terror he said, it is "the war to save ourselves and we will take every step with the support of the people to overcome this menace and ensure the writ of thegovernment".

Pakistan, has made it clear to the US that everyone has to fulfil his share of responsibility in the war against terror but the country would never allow unilateral action byforeign forces on its soil, Gilani added.
