Egyptian protestors welcome Turkish premier's statements
CAIRO (A.A) - 01.02.2011 - Protestors in Egypt welcomed the statements of Turkish Premier Recep Tayyip Erdogan who called Egyptian administration to take steps for stability of the country.
Earlier on Tuesday, Erdogan called on Egyptian government to take steps to satisfy the people and restore peace and stability in the country.
Erdogan's remarks came as more than 100,000 Egyptians poured into Tahrir Square in Cairo hoping to gather a million people to bring an end to 30 years of President Hosni Mubarak's authoritarian rule.
Speaking to A.A correspondent, protestors said that they were expecting similar statements from the U.S. and Britain.
The protestors said that the U.S. and Israel had been supporting the Egyptian government from the very beginning, while Turkey made statements which were neutral and showed the humanitarian situation in the country.
If Egyptian government listens to our wishes, stability will be restored; we don't like violence, said the protestors.
Protestors said that Turkish Premier Erdogan's remarks were different from the statements of other foreign leaders, and they appreciated the neutral and pacifist attitude of Erdogan.
"Give an ear to people's outcry and humanistic demands. Meet people's demand for change without any hesitation," Erdogan urged the Egyptian government in his speech at a meeting of his ruling Justice & Development (AK) Party, which was aired also by some Arabic TV channels.
"I would like to make it clear here. You should take the first step for peace, security and stability of Egypt without giving any chance for exploiters, evil circles and those who have dark scenarios on Egypt," Erdogan said. "You should take steps that could satisfy the people."
