Supreme Leader pays tribute to late Imam Khomeini

Tehran, Feb 1, IRNA – Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Ali Khamenei paid tribute to the Founder of the Islamic Republic, the late Imam Khomeini.
After visiting the Imam Khomeini's mausoleum in south of the capital city of Tehran Tuesday morning , Ayatollah Khamenei also paid tribute to the memory of a number of country's officials who were martyred in a bomb explosion on Tir 7 (June 28, 1981).

On Tir 7 in 1981 ex-chief justice Ayatollah Mohammad Hosseini Beheshti and 72 other officials were martyred in a bomb blast at the headquarters of the former Islamic Republic party planted by the terrorist Mujahedeen Khalq Organization (MKO).

February 1 is the day when the late Imam Khomeini returned home from his years-long exile. The late founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran arrived in Tehran from Paris this day in 1979 and was rapturously welcomed by a very huge crowd of people from all parts of the country.
