Lord Mayor said Turkey as much important as BRIC countries

ISTANBUL (A.A) - Michael Bear, Lord Mayor of City of London, said on Friday that Turkey was as much important as BRIC (Brazil, Russia, India, China) countries.
Bear delivered a speech at a panel discussion titled Istanbul International Finance Center organized by Istanbul Stock Exchange (ISE) in Istanbul.
Turkey had several important opportunities, he said.
Turkey and Britain had sound relations and Britain considered Turkey a friendly country, Bear said.
Lord Mayor of London said that Turkey was an important country for British economy.
Bear said 2,000 British companies had been operating in Turkey and trade volume between the two countries was 9 billion U.S. dollars.
Turkey needed a financial center like London to become global, he said.
ISE Chairman Huseyin Erkan said that Istanbul would become an international finance center within next decade and it would become one of the major finance centers of the world within next 30 years.
