SCIENTISTS IRRITATED BY BUDGET CUT
Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, /MONTSAME/ According to the Ministry of Finance website, a science sector budget has decreased by 298 million 8 thousand togrog against the year 2010.
A head of Trade unions of sciences Institutes P.Bayar says that a 30-percent salary rise, initiated last year by the Government, still has not been implemented in their sphere that has 1,874 scientists, researchers and specialists working for five fields of the Academy of Sciences of Mongolia (ASM) as social, medicine, agriculture, technologies and nature.
Their monthly salary stands at 350 thousand togrog in average. This year, some 71 staffers will not get salaries due to the budget cut, he says.
An official paper demanding to consider this matter was sent to the Government on January 17. "If no reply is given within a lawful period, we will have to move to the next actions," Bayar says.
