APPF'S ANNUAL MEETING TO RUN HERE

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, /MONTSAME/ The 19th Annual Meeting of the Asia-Pacific Parliamentary Forum (APPF) will run January 23-27 in the Government House, Ulaanbaatar. It is expected that 240 representatives of 17 countries will take part including parliamentary Speakers and vice Speakers from Australia, Cambodia, Canada, Chile, China, Indonesia, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Laos, Malaysia, Mexico, Micronesia, New Zealand, Russia, Singapore, Vietnam and Brunei.
The largest inter-parliamentary organization in Asia-Pacific region, the APPF, was established in 1993 at initiative of a former Prime Minister of Japan Yasuhiro Nakasone, founding its charter--the Tokyo Declaration--a document signed by 59 parliamentarians from fifteen nations, which sets up the basic structure of the organization.
When partaking in the 2nd annual meeting of the APPF in 1994, Mongolia became a member of the APPF. Mongolia still keeps its regular participation in the annual meetings.
The latest annual meeting ran January of 2010 in Singapore during which a decision was made to hold the next meeting in Ulaanbaatar. Mongolia was represented there by a parliamentary delegation headed by D.Zagdjav MP, a head of the Mongolia-Asia Pacific Region parliamentary group at the State Great Khural.
