Istanbul talks to pave way for constructive co-op : Iran Envoy
United Nations, New York, Jan 19, IRNA – Iran’s Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the UN Mohammad Khazaee said here on Tuesday that the upcoming Istanbul meeting will pave the way for constructive cooperation.
Talking to reporters, he said the West has made itself deprived from Iran’s great potentials by its mistakes.
He further lambasted the West’s wrong policies towards the region
particularly in Afghanistan and Iraq.
Khazaee reiterated that the upcoming Istanbul talks will be a good opportunity for the West to cooperate with the Islamic Republic. Iran is a big power which cannot be ignored by any country, he added.
He voiced Tehran’s readiness for serious and fruitful talks in Istanbul.
The Istanbul talks will only focus on Iran’s proposed package, he said, adding that the package is an indication to the country’s good will for seeking an appropriate solution to political, security, energy and economic issues at regional and international levels.
He emphasized that serious and constructive talks without any pre-conditions and based on mutual respect would be the only solution to the present situation, adding that such negotiations would lead to confidence-building process and would help establish comprehensive cooperation between the two sides.
The Istanbul talks will be an indication to Iran’s serious determination for transparent cooperation with the international community, Khazaee noted./end
