Envoy: Tehran-Bangkok ties in a good situation

Bangkok, Jan 19, IRNA – Iran's envoy to Thailand said that Tehran-Bangkok relations, far from any tension, is in a good and growing situation in all fields.
In a meeting with Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ramin Mihman-parast and a media delegation from Iran, Majid Bizmark, by referring to the history of political relations and ties between Tehran and Bangkok, said that Thailand has a special stance in Iran's foreign policy.
Referring to the good growth of trade exchange between the two countries in recent years, Bizmark said that our trade exchange reached over one billion dollars in the year of 2009, which indicated Tehran-Bangkok potential abilities in expanding economic relations.
Heads of other Iranian bodies in Thailand also spoke in the meeting and presented a report on their activities there.
It was also said in the meeting that more than a hundred thousand Iranian tourists annually visit Thailand, so a good and proper situation should be prepared to absorb Thai tourists to Iran.
Referring to increased number of Iranian students, professors and other Iranian activists in Thailand, it was said that the Iranian community there in the past years have had an expanding trend.
Mihman-parast said the aim of media delegation visit to Thailand is to open media exchanges between the two countries as well as expanding media relations.
He is also scheduled to meet and discuss issues of mutual interest with Thai officials.
The Iranian media delegation arrived in Bangkok on Tuesday afternoon.
They are going to visit a number of Thai mass media and meet with media officials and journalists here./end
