Ukraine seeks stronger economic ties with Japan - Yanukovich.

TOKYO, January 18 (Itar-Tass) - Ukraine attaches priority importance
to stronger economic and business relations with Japan, President Viktor
Yanukovich said at the meeting with the chairman of Japan Business
Federation (Nippon Keidanren) Hiromasa Yonekura on Tuesday.
"The president and the government will create all necessary conditions
for successful cooperation of the two countries' business circles," said
Yanukovich, who is on an official visit to Japan.
Last year's bilateral trade increased by 44 percent, he said.
"This proves that Ukraine's market is attractive for Japan's
companies. The two countries will soon sign agreements that will remove
barriers for developing bilateral trade and investments," the Ukrainian
leader said pledging to upgrade the country's legislative base to create
more attractive conditions for the influx of investments.
Yonekura said in turn Japan keeps a close watch on Ukraine's policy
and mainly on the political course for economic development taken by
President Yanukovich.
"The signing of the Ukrainian-Japanese agreement on protection of
investments instills hope that business activities and investments will
grow.
At the meeting Yanukovich and Yonekura discussed attraction of
investments into Ukraine's agricultural sector as "this step is of special
importance amid the global food crisis."
They also considered prospects for participation of Japan's companies
in the preparation for Euro Cup 2012 in Ukraine.
