Ukraine interested in easier visa rules with Japan - Yanukovich.
TOKYO, January 18 (Itar-Tass) - Ukraine is interested in gradual
liberalization of visa rules with Japan, President Viktor Yanukovich said at the meeting with Japan's House of Representatives speaker Takahiro Yokomichi on Tuesday.
Stronger multilateral relations with Japan remain one of Ukraine's
foreign policy priorities, he said.
Yanukovich expressed confidence that "contacts between the two
countries' legislative bodies contribute to deeper political dialogue."
At the meeting the politicians discussed prospects for launching a
direct air link between Ukraine and Japan. This summer eleven direct
charter flights en route Tokyo-Kiev-Tokyo will be made.
Yanukovich and Yokomichi also discussed easier visa rules, the
Ukrainian president's press service said.
"Ukraine is interested in gradual liberalization of visa rules with
Japan," Yanukovich said adding that six years ago Ukraine introduced
visa-free rules for citizens of Japan.
