Thai Commerce Ministry: ASEAN-China partnership to boost Thai exports

BANGKOK, Jan 18 (TNA) - Thai Deputy Commerce Minister Alongkorn Ponlaboot said on Tuesday (Jan 18) that cooperation on economy, trade and investment between ASEAN and China was taking shape and would boost Thai exports to other Southeast Asian nations as well as exports from Southeast Asia to China.
Attending the ASEAN-China Business Forum held at Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre in Bangkok, Alongkorn said the cooperation which was taking shape and would be beneficial in the near future was the project to open a centre to exhibit Thai and Chinese products. It will be the biggest trade exhibition centre in Southeast Asia. The project is located on a land plot covering 26 rai (41,600 square meters) on the 10th kilometer marker of Bang Na-Trat road.
The centre will display products from China and other Southeast Asian nations, with 30 per cent of exhibits being Thai products available on sale. The 45-billion-baht centre will bring jobs to 70,000 Thai people.
Besides, in mid next year, Thailand will open a trade show centre in Yiwu city of Zhejiang province in China. Alongkorn said the center should promote Thai exports to China and consequently the amount of Thai exports to the world power should double in three years. (TNA)
