More nations attracted to learn Farsi language

Tehran, Jan 18, IRNA – Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Mohammad Hosseini said Tuesday that learning Farsi language is increasing worldwide as Farsi is the world's second easy-learning language.

Addressing the opening ceremony of the seventh international conference on Farsi language, Hosseini said that the Farsi language has currently over 100 million speakers worldwide.

The conference is attended by 250 professors and students of Farsi language from 50 world nations including a number European, African, Asian and Central Asian countries. It will end on January 19.

Hosseini said that the Farsi language is the second easy-learning language of the world.

Recalling a research by a Western professor of Semitic languages (Arthur Jeffery) who worked on the foreign vocabulary of the holy Quran, Hosseini said that there were more than 50 Farsi words in Quran (Muslims holy book).

He referred to the old history of the Farsi language and said that the language enjoyed a high status among world’s other languages “thanks to 12 centuries of its written heritage.”/end
