Iran-Serbia keen to broaden Parliamentary ties

Belgrade, Jan 18, IRNA – Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister Ali Ahani and Serbian MP Dragoliop Michonovic discussed and surveyed ways to boost parliamentary cooperation.
The Head of the Serbian Parliament's Foreign Policy Commission Michonovic in his meeting with Deputy Foreign Minister in European Affairs praised the rich historical, cultural and civilizational backgrounds of Iran, saying 'One should be proud of having ties with a nation with such a brilliant historical background.'
Emphasizing the important role of Iran at the international scene, he announced his country's interest in having parliamentary relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran.
The Serbian Parliament member referred to Iran's capabilities and technological and scientific facilities, he added, 'Relying on such capabilities, the Islamic Republic of Iran can definitely pass through the imposed international pressures unharmed.'
Ahani, too, in the meeting emphasized the importance of the parliaments' role in expansion of bilateral ties, welcomed the proposal for expansion of parliamentary cooperation, and expressed hope that the two countries ties would expand comprehensively.
The Iranian Deputy foreign minister criticized the issuance of UN anti-Iranian resolutions and the ultra resolution EU sanctions, arguing, 'The Islamic Republic of Iran has managed to turn those threats into national opportunities.'/end
