Iran keen on expanding co-op with LA states – Lawmaker

Tehran, Jan 18, IRNA – Iranian government has based its policy on expansion of cooperation with Latin American states, said an Iranian lawmaker here on Monday.

Head of Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, Ala’eddin Broujerdi, told the visiting Uruguayan Parliament Speaker, Ivonne Pasada, that Iran has made huge progress in scientific and sophisticated technological fields, which serve as a strong backing for expansion of cordial ties with Uruguay.

Boroujerdi, who is also the Head of Iran-Uruguay Friendship Group, said Promotion of ties with friendly countries on the basis of mutual respect is among principles of Iran’s foreign policy.

Boroujerdi went on to say that the Iranian government has provided favorable conditions for expansion of ties with Latin American states.

He noted that his Commission will do all it can to upgrade ties with Uruguay.

The Uruguayan top parliamentarian for her part welcomed promotion of cooperation with Iran, calling for exchange of parliamentary delegations to attain this goal./end
