Active trading along Thai-Cambodian border

CHANTHABURI, Jan 17 (TNA) - Fears of continued price hikes of consumer products have prompted more active trading along the Thai-Cambodian border in Thailand’s eastern Chanthaburi Province, as Cambodian people have flocked across the frontier to buy the Thai goods, particularly instant noodles, for their households' safe stocks of food.
Sombat Juengtrakul, Vice President of Chanthaburi’s Border Traders' Association, said on Monday (Jan 14) that border trading activities on the Thai side have become a record-high unprecedentedly due to the fears of the soaring prices.
Sombat acknowledged that purchase of Thai instant noodles, for instance, by Cambodian traders and consumers has surged to 8,000 cartons a day over the past week, from normally 3,000 on average.
Sombat urged border Thai traders to ensure sufficient supply of consumer goods, particularly instant noodles, to meet the leaping demand and to earn more profits at the moment. (TNA)
