Iran not to attend IIPU session in protest at UAE move

Tehran, Jan 17, IRNA – Iranian member of the Islamic Inter-Parliamentary Union and its Executive Committee will not take part in the Union’s upcoming meeting in Abu Dhabi in protest at the UAE parliament’s divisive move.
In a statement, issued on Sunday and quoted by Majlis Mass Media and News Department, Iranian members of the IIPU said the next meeting, which originally aims to unite the world of Islam, has been diverted from its genuine philosophy due to certain individuals’ wrong attitude.
“Certain countries try to harm the Union by their uncalculated behavior,” read out the statement.
It added that certain UAE parliamentarians want to abuse the IIPU session to implement anti-Islamic plans and plots of the UK and the US.
It reiterated that the UAE’s move is aimed to divide Muslim Ummah, so Iran will refuse to take part in the IIPU session, thus showing its strong protest at the UAE measure./end
