Iran beats N. Korea’s football team in Qatar 1-0
Doha, Qatar, Jan 15, IRNA -- Iran’s National Football team qualified for quarterfinals on Saturday in the Asian Nations Football Cup currently underway here after defeating North Korean team 1-0.
Iran’s Karim Ansarifard scored the only game of the match 62 minutes after the start of the match.
Having both matches that Iranian team played against Iraq and North Korea, Iranian players are now seeking the first Asian title for their team.
Iran tops the group with six points, followed by the United Arab Emirates and North Korea, who both have one point. UAE were playing against Iraq who lost to Iran in their opening match.
North Korea, who drew 0-0 with United Arab Emirates in their opening match, were, as expected, largely content to defend in numbers but they had two good scoring chances./end
