Thai PM confident case of 7 Thais in Cambodia to be finalised soon
BANGKOK, Jan 16(TNA) – Thailand’s Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva on Sunday expressed his confidence that the Phnom Penh court would finalise the case of the 7 Thais detained in Cambodia in the near future.
In his weekly television and radio address on Sunday, Abhisit said his government was doing its best to help the 7 Thais detained in Phnom Penh for allegedly trespassing neighbouring Cambodia’s territory. Regarding statements from Cambodia Abhisit said he believed that the Phnom Penh court should finalise the case of the 7 Thais this week. Then the government will take further actions.
Meanwhile, the ruling Democrat Party spokesman Buranat Samuttharak said his party was concerned about the movements of the Thai Patriots Network that planned to petition His Majesty the King to help the 7 Thai nationals in Phnom Penh. He said the network had a good intention which, however, could turn out to trigger a conflict.
Meanwhile, the number of Cambodian buyers dropped at the Sunday market near the still open Chong Sa-ngam border pass in Thailand’s northeastern province Si Sa Ket today due to rumours about reinforcements by both Thai and Cambodian soldiers. (TNA)
