Minister calls for closer interaction of media with expatriates

Tehran, Jan 16, IRNA -- The minister of culture and Islamic guidance on Saturday called for interaction between media and Iranians living abroad, saying that media can play leading role to guide public opinion.

Mohammad Hosseini made the remarks addressing the first expert meeting on “role of media in promoting interaction with Iranians living abroad” which started in Tehran this morning.

'Today, establishment of link between media and the Iranian expatriates is an important issue,' Hosseini said adding that the contacts should increase systematically.

Hosseini further said all media, news agencies and websites are expected to faithfully reflect the truth of the Islamic Iran, adding that they have to respect their responsibility and perform their crucial role properly.

'Every Iranian living wherever around the world belongs to Iran and should defend the Iranian interest,' the guidance minister said.

Referring to Iranophobia project, Hosseini said unfortunately the West attempted to misportray Iran, but the Iranian expatriates can display Iran's true image.

Hosseini said that the media would reflect the West's true face while the western governments have mobilized their media networks to introduce itself as an advocate of democracy and human rights./end
