German peace activist slams Berlin's double standard on Iran

Berlin, Jan 15, IRNA - A prominent German peace activist on Saturday lambasted her country's double standard over Iran's nuclear program.

Talking to the Berlin-based daily junge welt, Marion Kuepker stressed Germany's approach was based 'entirely on a double standard' when it came to dealing with Tehran's nuclear program.

She pointed out Germany is producing uranium in the northwestern German city of Gronau and has kept nuclear weapons-grade material at its reactor in the town of Garching located near Munich.

Pointing to the deployment of an estimated 20 US atomic bombs at a German air base in the southwestern town of Buechel, Kuepker reiterated that it was 'illegal' for her country to stockpile weapons of mass destruction on its soil.

She added Germany - as a signatory to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) - is not allowed to possess or accept nuclear weapons from another country./end
