Austrade offers free English class for Thai students

BANGKOK, Jan 15 (TNA) - The Australian Trade Commission (Austrade) in Bangkok has invited Thai students wanting to study overseas to attend a free trial English program.

The Austrade has launched the Sample English Classes Initiative to provide Thai students wishing to further their education overseas a good opportunity to experience how the English language is taught in Australia.

The free trial English classes, lectured by teachers sent from two leading education institutes in Melbourne, Australia, namely Swinburne College and Box Hill Institute, will be offered during the weekend of January 29-30, 2011 at the Novel Bangkok on Siam Square. Students can select from four topics to suit their interest, including communication skills, business English, English for academic purposes and IELTS preparations.

Australian Ambassador to Thailand, H.E. James Wise, said he believes that the free trial English classes will encourage Thai students to pursue an overseas study program in Australia, noting that as English becomes a medium to global sources of knowledge and global opportunities, interest from international students to study in Australia has been growing.

Interested applicants for the free trial English classes can register online from now until January 28, 2011 at [www.studyinaustralia.org/thailand]. A total of 120 students will be selected based on a first-come-first-serve basis and successful applicants will then be contacted by the Austrade office in Bangkok. (TNA)
