Political analyst: Recent Kabul events against Afghans' interests

Mashhad, Jan 15, IRNA – An Afghan political analyst said here Friday a small group's anti Iranian propagations and demonstration aimed at serving western interests is against national and Islamic interests of Afghan nation.

Head of the Afghan Voice news agency Seyyed Issa Hosseini Mazari in an interview with IRNA correspondent in Mash'had analyzed western countries' enmity against the Islamic Republic of Iran, adding, 'The western countries' efforts aimed at distancing Iran and Afghanistan is in line with that strategy.'

He reiterated, 'Despite the Americans' decades' long scheduled work in Afghanistan, the Islamic Republic of Iran has always had a successful presence there, while the two countries' interests have always been contrasting and the Americans have therefore been trying to create obstacles in the way of Iran's presence.

Referring to the divide and rule policy of the west in Afghanistan, he said, 'One of the policies always pursued by the west against the Islamic world unity is the divide and rule policy and that policy has always been pursued aimed at disturbing the Tehran-Kabul ties, under such conditions that Iran's presence in Afghanistan has only been in favor of Kabul.'

The Afghan analyst said, 'These accusations have existed ever since President Hamid Karzai came to office, but they accelerated from the beginning of the current year that has been full of tension between Iran and Afghanistan so far.'

He added, they are constantly looking for pretexts to reach that end, which is sometimes the execution of an Afghan immigrant in Iran, sometimes getting killed of some illegal Afghan immigrants trying to pass the border by Iranian border guards, and at other times confiscation of Iranian weaponry from Taliban forces, which is interpreted as Tehran's interference in Afghanistan's internal affairs.'

He added, 'The recent hue and cry that raised on pretext of some Afghan immigrants on borderline with Iran coincided with blocking the path of Iranian fuel tankers' traffic to Afghanistan and some other major factors.'

Mazari further elaborated, 'There have been talks on near future construction of a huge US military base in Afghanistan, which has strong opponents not only among the Afghan politicians, but also among a huge portion of the Afghan nation. Therefore, the Americans need an escape goat to deviate the minds from the issue and that is one other major reason behind the recent western architectured protests.

He added, 'The other interesting issue for the west is the activities aimed at establishing a national peace council, which includes choosing a mediator country between Afghanistan and the Taliban militias, which the Americans fear lest the Afghans would vote for Iran as the mediator.'

The media chief said, 'The Americans know they can lead the affairs of developments in Afghanistan if the mediator country in question would be a tool in their hands, and not an independent country, like Iran.'

He further elaborated, 'Some people have proposed Turkey, Pakistan, or an Arab country as the mediator, but since Turkey is a NATO member, and Pakistan and the entire Arab countries, too, are supporters of the Taliban, they can none play the role of an impartial mediator country.'

He said, 'For all those reason, the thought that Iran is the only fit country to play the mediating role has gained weight and the westerners by intriguing such fake crises intend to wipe that probability from the Afghans' mind.'

Praising the Iranian Islamic Revolution and the roles played by the late Ayatollah Imam Khomeini (P) and the current leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Khamenei, he said, 'The Afghans have been highly influenced by your revolution and the upcoming Fajr Ten Day ceremonies further strengthen that influence, which is by itself one other reason why the westerners are taking a step ahead by intriguing these protest rallies, which are neither to the benefit of the Afghan nation, nor to the benefit of their Iranian brethren.'

Further elaborating on the role of the west in so called anti-Iranian protests in Kabul, he said, 'Presently a private TV station has been commissioned to cover the entire course of those US architectured protests, including the overturning of a truck carrying Afghan refugees, which they say is on Iran-Afghanistan borderline, where as in fact the road seen in the footage is asphalted, while we have no asphalted road along the broader line, and the scene shown is actually near Kabul.'

He said that the fuel ban issue, too, could have been easily solve through diplomatic channels and the Afghan Government's guarantee that the fuel would be merely used by the Afghan citizens, and is not for the NATO use, needless of so much enmity and antagonist moves against a country that not only hosted millions of Afghan refugees for decades, but also has been among the top contributors to our country's reconstruction in recent decades.'/end
