Korean Peninsula peace, stability answer interests of the region
BEIJING, January 14 (Itar-Tass) - Support of peace and stability in
the Korean Peninsula answers the interests of all countries in the region,
China's Deputy Foreign Minister Cui Tiankai said on Friday.
"China calls for all involved sides to renew most promptly the sextet
talks on the Korean Peninsula's nuclear problem," he said. "The
achievement of denuclearisation of the Korean Peninsula by means of a
dialogue and consultations is China's invariable position."
Cui Tiankai highlighted the fact that China follows the resolute
position about the necessity of implementing the conditions of the Joint
Statement of September 19, 2005. The document confirms that all the sides
have agreed to undertake coordinated steps for the practical realisation
of the achieved agreements on a step-by-step basis.
China's deputy foreign minister said that the format of the sextet
talks was a most suitable platform for the settlement of the situation in
the region than the UN Security Council's consultation.
