Explosion with fire reported at Thai Bang Chak oil refinery

BANGKOK, Jan 14 (TNA) - An explosion with fire was reported at an oil refinery facility of Bangchak Petroleum Public Company Limited (Bangchak) in Bangkok, Thailand, Friday morning (Jan 14), but fire extinguishers could bring the blaze under control within less than an hour without any casualty.
The incident took place at around 7am, causing panic among local residents and prompting local police to seal off the area until the situation relieved.
Meanwhile, Anusorn Saengnimmual, President of Bangchak, another Thailand's state-supported petroleum firm along with PTT Public Company Limited (PTT), said that the explosion triggered at the oil refinery's hydrocracker system was an accident. Anusorn reported, however, that the facility needs to be closed for repair and maintenance services until next month. (TNA)
