Yemen receives $500,000 Saudi grant for cleaning mines
SANA'A, Aug. 13 (Saba) - Yemen received here on Tuesday about $
500,000 from Saudi Arabia as an assistance to clean mines in the
country.
The amount was handed over by the Saudi ambassador to Yemen Ali
al-Hamdan during his meeting with the chairman of the National Mine
Action Committee (NMAC) Qasem Ahmed al-Ajam.
Al-Ajam hailed the Saudi assistance to Yemen's efforts to clean
different areas from mines, affirming the strong relations the two
countries linked with.
On the other hand, al-Ajam held talks here with the resident
coordinator of the United Nations Development Program UNDP Ms.
Pratibha Mehta and the Country Director of the UNDP Silva
Ramashandran on the cooperation between Yemen and the UNDP in
carrying out the national program for cleaning mines.
The meeting dealt with the future of the national program and its
aid in the coming period in addition to reviewing the preparations
for the meeting to be held next November to evaluate national
program and would attended by representatives of the donor countries.
