MONGOL BANK: MONEY SUPPLY INCREASES

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, /MONTSAME/ The Bank of Mongolia has reported that money supply (broad money or M2) at the end of 2010 reached MNT 4,680.0 billion, reflecting an increase of MNT 740.4 billion or 18.8 per cent against the previous month, and an increase of MNT 1,800.0 billion or 62.5 per cent against the previous year.
At the end of 2010, currency issued in circulation reached MNT 519.7 billion, demonstrating an increase of MNT 46.8 billion or 9.9 per cent compared to the previous month, and of MNT 147.9 billion or 39.8 per cent against the previous year.
Loans outstanding at the end of 2010 amounted to MNT 3,264.8 billion, up by MNT 152.3 billion or 4.9 per cent against the previous month, and up by MNT 609.8 billion or 23.0 per cent against the previous year.
Principals in arrears at the end of 2010 reached MNT 90.6 billion increasing MNT 0.3 billion or 0.4 per cent against the previous month, and decreasing MNT 31.2 billion or 25.6 per cent against the previous year.
At the end of 2010, the non-performing loans over the bank system reached MNT 374.4 billion, showing an increase of MNT 3.4 billion or 0.9 per cent compared to the previous month, and a decrease of MNT 87.6 billion or 19.0 per cent against the previous year.
Mongolian togrog exchange rates against U.S. Dollar and EUR, which continually weakened in 2009 against the previous year, appreciated since March of 2010. Mongolian togrog against U.S. Dollar appreciated by 5.8 per cent to 1,357.84 tog, against EUR by 10.1 per cent to 1,805.08 tog, against CNY by 4.7 per cent to 200.93 tog, against RUB by 0.8 per cent to 44.89 tog in 2010.
According to statistics in stock exchange, in 2010 there were in total 253 trading days during which 64.5 million shares valued at MNT 92.9 billion were traded.
