GROSS DOMESTIC PRODUCT AND CONSUMER PRICE INDEX


Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, /MONTSAME/ The preliminary estimates of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) by production approach has reached MNT 8,255.1 billion at current price, MNT 4,154.0 billion at 2005 constant price in 2010, up by 25.3 per cent at current price and 6.1 per cent at constant price compared to the previous year.
The above increase in GDP for 2010 was mainly due to the 23.4 per cent increase in wholesale and retail trade; repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles, 11.3 per cent increase in manufacturing sector and 6.3 per cent increase in mining and quarrying sector, respectively.
The preliminary estimates of gross domestic product by expenditure approach reached MNT 8,420.7 billion in 2010, increased by MNT 1,852.3 billion or 28.2 per cent against the previous year. The increase was mainly due to the growth in final consumption and gross capital formation.
The national consumer price index in December of 2010 increased 2.4 per cent against the previous month, and by 13.0 per cent compared to the same period of 2010. Annual average inflation rate was 10.1 per cent. The increase in national index compared to the previous month was mainly due to 5.2 per cent increase in food and non-alcoholic beverages.
