NUMBER OF BIRTHS DECLINES

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, /MONTSAME/ According to a report of the Ministry of Health, 65.7 thousand mothers delivered 65.9 thousand children in 2010.
The number of mothers delivered children decreased by 2.9 thousand or 4.2 per cent compared to previous year, but increased by 4.8 thousand or 8.0 per cent against the average of previous three years.
In 2010, child mortality aged 1-5 increased 107 or 44.6 per cent to 347, the infant mortality decreased by 111 or 8.0 per cent to 1,275.
The number of maternal deaths, caused by pregnancy/delivery complications decreasing 26 cases or 46.4 per cent down to 30.
